Conditions

From 1 November 2005, Working Holiday Makers who have worked as a seasonal worker in regional Australia for a minimum of three months and still meet the requirements for the first will be eligible to apply for a second Working Holiday visa.

'Three months' means three 'calendar' months.

Work can be in one block with one employer or in separate blocks with one employer or a number of employers. The work must be full time work (eg Not casual employment of less than 40 hours per week). The days and hours worked should equal the standard for a full working day or week for that employer, that region and that industry.

Must Show Evidence of Work

Working holidaymakers who intend applying for a second working holiday visa will need evidence of the length of time they have spent working as a seasonal worker in regional Australia If you are interested in the option of applying for a second Working Holiday visa, you should obtain a copy of the Working Holiday Visa: Employment Verification form.

Completion of the Working Holiday Employment Verification form will constitute evidence of the seasonal work you have undertaken.

This form should be used to record all employment details and will be required when completing an application for a second working holiday visa.

What is Seasonal Work ?

* Seasonal work is the harvesting, packing of fruit and vegetable crops, pruning and trimming vines and trees, thinning and trimming flowers and bunches, Animal cultivation, fishing and pearling or general maintenance crop work.

What does Regional Australia Mean ?

** Regional Australia: anywhere in Australia except the following Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, the NSW Central Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne or the ACT. Any area identified at: www.jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail requiring harvest workers comes within the definition of 'regional Australia'.

AGE LIMIT APPLIES

This visa is for people aged 18 to 30 years of age, who are interested in a working holiday of up to 12 months in Australia. Important: Applicants must be between 18 years of age and 31, at the time of visa approval.

What can I do with this visa ?

If you are granted this visa you can:

• enter Australia within 12 months of visa being granted
• stay up to 12 months (you may qualify for the second 12 month stay)
• leave and re-enter Australia any number of times while the visa is valid
• work in Australia for up to 6 months with each employer
• study or train for up to 4 months
